My second stop was France. My brother lives in Dieppe, Normandie, where I woke up every day to a wide horizon over the sea, narrow streets with pretty French houses and yummy French pastry. The jet-lag was troubling me and the one solution I found was to literally get outside every hour or so and check out the sun, the sea, the sky. It worked like magic for me.
Art is present everywhere in Dieppe, perhaps France in general, lovely proportions in the old architecture, sculptural details, good taste in general. Local artists continue to paint “en plein air”, long after Monet… In every shop window, Annie Puybareau’s posters were inviting me, you, everyone to her show.
