Early Renaissance in Toronto

It’s travelling time for me, East and more East this time. My first stop was Toronto where I went to see the Early Renaissance exhibit at the AGO (Art Gallery of Ontario), mostly for technical reasons. I love painting on wood and wanted to take a close look at the wood surface, the paint quality and all sorts of other details that made me buzz with anticipation.

Somewhat naive in its pictorial expression, the Early Renaissance has however a freshness and a simplicity that captures me more than any technicalities. I looked at the image above for a long time, wondering whether it was the colour scheme or the graceful lines that I enjoyed more…
